Lost in the Pershing Point Hotel
(2000, 106 min, United States, Julia Jay Pierrepont)

Leslie Jordan wrote the screenplay and acted as the main character in this film about a gay man coming to terms with his sexuality and his Southern Baptist upbringing. After escaping to the bigger city, Jordan's character is drawn into a world of drugs and hustling. A resident of the Pershing Point Hotel, Francis Westbrook (Erin Chandler) gets off on doing different types of drugs, being an expert on their interactions. Also coming into Jordan's character's life is the hustler Tripper (Mark Pellegrino), whom he falls in love in. For a gay movie, there is no real depiction of gay love between the two. The director's debut was shot in 18 days and the end result was a rushed film that didn't do much justice to Jordan's script. See Jordan's other film, Sordid Lives, for a much more entertaining time.
