Inside Monkey Zetterland
(1993, 93 min, United States, Jefery Levy)
Monkey Zetterland (Steven Antin) is a former teenage actor and now desparately trying to finish a screenplay. He lives with his mother Honor (Katherine Helmond) who is a soap opera actress, his lesbian sister Grace (Patricia Arquette), his radical tenant Sofie (Martha Plimpton) and his girlfriend Daphne (Debi Mazar). His girlfriend ends up leaving him claiming he's too boring, Grace decides whether or not to get back with her pregnant girlfriend Cindy (Sofia Coppola), and tenant Sofie is hanging out with a gay Australian radical named Sasha (Rupert Everett). What more can be weird? Try adding a next door neighbor Imogene (Sandra Bernhard) who has the hots for Monkey and Bella the stalker (a chubby Ricki Lake) who only wants Monkey's mothers autograph. This is a pretty thought up plot written by Steven Antin himself.
